With a code you can join a team or a hunt, or get access to someone else's device or dog. All codes are entered in the same place, and the app recognises by itself which kind of code it is.
How to enter a code
- Open the WeHunt app and log in
- Open the left-hand menu
- Tap Enter code
- Type or paste the code
- Tap Done
You are now connected to the team, hunt, device or dog that the code belongs to.
What each code does
- Team code – joins you to a hunting team.
- Hunt code – joins you to a hunt, also before it has started. For 30 days after the hunt has ended, the code opens the hunt's summary.
- Device code – gives you rights to someone else's GPS device. There are two kinds: one makes you an administrator of the device, the other gives you viewing rights.
- Dog code – gives you rights to someone else's dog. There are two kinds: one makes you a dog handler, the other gives you viewing rights.

Device code or dog code?
A device code follows the device, whichever dog is wearing it. A dog code follows the dog, whichever device it is wearing.
If you lend your device to a friend, make them an administrator of the device. If you lend your dog, make them a dog handler. If you lend both, do both.
What each role can do
- Device administrator: manages the device and chooses which dog wears it.
- Device viewer: sees the device and the dog wearing it. Cannot change settings, send commands or pass the code on.
- Dog handler: follows the dog's live position on the map and in hunts, and can see and send commands to the device the dog is wearing. Only the device's own administrator can change its settings or put it on another dog.
- Dog viewer: sees the dog's live position on the map, and the name, ID and battery of the device it is wearing. Cannot send commands, change settings or pass the code on.
How to share your device or dog
- Open the left-hand menu
- Tap Devices or Dogs and choose the device or dog
- Tap Settings
- For a device, tap Administrators or Viewing rights. For a dog, tap Manage administrators (where you add dog handlers) or Viewing rights
- Copy or share the code. If there is no code yet, tap Generate code first
Keep your codes safe
Anyone who enters your device or dog code can follow its position until you remove them. Share codes only with people you trust, and never in open groups or on social media.
- You can see everyone who has access, and remove them, on the same pages where you share the code.
- Generating a new viewing code replaces the old one.
- If you remove an administrator or a dog handler, the viewing rights they have shared are removed too.
