How do I add a Lafayette device to WeHunt?

WeHunt supports adding Lafayette devices using a device ID and an activation code (called an OTP in WeHunt) found in the Lafayette app. This article explains how to add a Lafayette device and what to check if it doesn't show a position.

What do I need before I start?

Using Lafayette devices requires at least a WeHunt Premium subscription. Adding a Lafayette device does not require upgrading to a higher subscription level, no matter how many other devices you already have in the app.

You also need the following on the Lafayette side:

• a Lafayette Pro licence for the Lafayette app
• an active subscription for the device itself
• the WeHunt feature switched on for the device in Lafayette My Pages. You must be the owner of the device to do this. This feature is a paid integration that you pay to Lafayette.

How to add a Lafayette device

First, find the activation code in the Lafayette app. The code is not generated by a button — it only appears once you switch the device on for WeHunt and save.

1. Open the Lafayette app, go to Devices and select the device.
2. Tap Edit to open the device settings, and note down the device's ID.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the settings, to the Connect to WeHunt section.
4. Switch Show device in WeHunt on, then tap Save.
5. The Activation code now appears below the switch. Copy it using the copy icon next to it.
6. In WeHunt, go to Devices → Add device and select the Lafayette option.
7. Enter the device ID, then enter the activation code. WeHunt labels this field OTP.
8. The Lafayette device should now appear under Devices in WeHunt.

Note: this differs from adding a standard Tracker/WeHunt dog-tracking device, which uses an IMEI/ID instead of a device ID + activation code.

Device added, but no location shows in WeHunt?

Check that the WeHunt feature is turned on for the device on Lafayette's side, in two places: the Show device in WeHunt switch in the Lafayette app (Devices → select device → Edit), and the WeHunt feature for the device in Lafayette My Pages. WeHunt only receives location data once this is enabled on Lafayette's side — without it, the device will appear in WeHunt but won't report a position.

What can I do with a Lafayette device in WeHunt?

You can currently adjust the update interval for a Lafayette device from within WeHunt. Other device settings are managed from the Lafayette app.
